Our (longgg) Story
Sam and Andy first met in their sophomore year at NYU—drinking wine on the floor of a dorm room kitchen. It wasn’t until their last semester as seniors, despite different approaches, that they matched on Tinder and started hanging out every Sunday night.
After graduation, Andy’s lease ended early and he boldly asked Sam if he could crash with them for their final week in the city (...and they were roommates). Their first official date took place that same week at Empellon Taqueria in the West Village, and they casually held hands on the table.
But—Andy was moving to San Francisco for his first big boi job at Google and Sam was preparing for a research position in the city. Both nervous about post-college life, they said goodbye one early morning, also unsure of what they were and would be.
They eventually decided to give each other space to transition and focus on work. As summer moved on this was easier said than done. Sam found the courage to FaceTime Andy, who had also reached out in search of some lost boots (house-down), and planned a trip. In August, Sam arrived at SFO with a bouquet of flowers and asked Andy if they could give long-distance a shot.
Swipe forward 6 years—countless flights and Amtraks to visit one another, moves back and forth between SF, NY, Boston and Philly, surviving grad school, med school, and COVID quarantine—our couple landed in Baltimore for Sam’s residency and started living under the same roof.
In October 2023, on a visit to Andy’s hometown of Sarasota, FL, Sam and Andy sat in front of the water (with some familiar dolphin friends) at Lido Beach, and finally proposed to one another.
Now it’s time to celebrate a decade of Sandy with our closest friends and family who have supported and loved us along the way <3
